RouletteCricket Scoops Runner-Up At The Vodafone Mobile Clicks 2010

RouletteCricket Limited, has scooped the €50,000 Runner-Up prize at the Vodafone Mobile Clicks 2010 competition – a European contest to identify the best digital start-up businesses. Vodafone Mobile Clicks is the largest contest for the best mobile internet start-up in the world of its kind, with businesses competing for a share of €150,000 prize pot.


Representatives from the company were flown to Amsterdam for the third and final round of judging last week that involved a live presentation and Q&A in an X-Factor meets Dragons Den format in front of a panel of 9 International Judges and over 200 members of the public. As the sole UK representative, RouletteCricket was awarded overall 2nd Prize, narrowly losing out to Portuguese start-up Cardmobili who scooped the jackpot €100,000 prize. The Netherlands and Spain provided the other 2 finalists.


Lee Epting, Director of Content Services at Vodafone Group said, “I would like to congratulate Cardmobili and RouletteCricket on winning this years competition. The superb quality of entries this year once again highlights the wealth of ideas and talent within the developer community. We are proud to be able to showcase and support innovation with the Vodafone Mobile Clicks competition and are sure that both businesses will be resounding successes”.


Dave Tharp, RouletteCricket MD was naturally delighted with the second spot placing, ”This represents a huge achievement for us and to be recognised as one of the top 4 digital start-ups across Europe is pretty incredible in itself – to finish second is amazing”.


Asked how they’ll be using the prize money, Tharp says “Our cricket game is the first app of its kind in the market and so its our intention to build out the game further on to new platforms and also look to create similar style games for other sports”.
